My dream of becoming a mechanical engineer all started when I was a little boy. I discovered my interest when I first saw movies and documentaries on television related to engineering. I was amazed because they could build mechs, vehicles and home appliances. I realized I had a great passion for visualizing and creating things.
I decided to google about what type of engineering is related to mechanics. Right there on my screen the word “Mechanical Engineer” popped up. That was the day when I finally found my dream job. I believe it would suit both my talent and skills.
Below are my three reasons why I would love to be a mechanical engineer:
1. To produce affordable appliances with great quality.
One time, I walked into an appliance store with my Mom and Dad because we were planning to buy some appliances for our house. I checked the shelves to see if they released a new set of appliances. I found a bunch of both good and poor quality appliances like microwaves, lampshades and TV sets. The only thing that caught my attention is that they had insanely overpriced tags.
I had the feeling of unfairness that time since the “older” appliances were usually sold at a cheaper price which was pretty understandable as they had less demand. It made me think of making my own products and appliances someday. I would pretty much sell them at a more affordable price so people could buy them.
Eventually, products with poor quality wouldn’t really last long. In my opinion, they should be sold at a cheaper price. It would be good to use the right kind material but still make them affordable. My point here is that equality is one of and if not the best policy. I want to create appliances in the future that would useful and affordable to all types of buyers.
2. To improve the present and current machinery.
Inventions like factory equipment and industrial machinery perform greatly to help companies and economies due to a faster production rate without needing employees. This impressed me because not only will it do the job for us but it would only take less time to finish the final product. Providing modern technology would be really useful to those who don’t have access to it yet since there are lots of stagnant economies out there. It would be amazing to build something that could help harvest crops, gather food resources and produce oil. Oil itself is the biggest problem in most economies due to the overuse or burning of fossil fuels in its conversion to oil. These factors would eventually lead to the economy to run out of resources. So, technology that could help manage and regulate the use of oil can help improve the economy’s sustainability.
One reason why I would also love to become a Mechanical Engineer is because with that profession, not only can I just create robots and super computers but also provide assistance to economies. There are many problems that people may face without the proper equipment, that is why I would definitely choose this kind of job.
Without further a-do, let’s proceed with my final reason for becoming a mechanical engineer.
3. To create a new batch of transportation.
Last but not least, one of my most favorite reasons why I’d LOVE to become a mechanical engineer is to build automobiles like sports cars and planes to travel around the world. This has been a long awaited dream that I keep on manifesting ever since I was 5 years old.
My goal is to build cars and give them away to my family and friends as well as a plane to provide a nicer and more comfortable flight for all its passengers. Because of this goal, I tried to know more about the basic parts of a car, like the wheels, pistons and hinges.
What makes a car unique is its engine that could change its speed and acceleration. It helps the vehicle travel farther distances to cover a certain time interval.
Sports cars are usually made for those who love racing and entertainment. I would really like to build one with a really elegant design, similar to a Ferrari and a Lamborghini. I could also build a big and spacious car for my parents to use when going to work or traveling to other cities. I would want a car that would only require the use of water instead of oil or other similar inventions like the electric car.
For me, an example of a successful inventor is Elon Musk. He is among those who have influenced my desire in creating new types of transportation. He graduated with two bachelor degrees, both in Economics and Physics. He is obviously good at Math, Chemistry and Physics. I would like to follow in his footsteps and gather all the information that he had come up with in creating a new kind of transportation like the Tesla Cars and other electric cars. His hard work and passion has inspired people to do the same. So, I would definitely credit him as I achieve my goal in the following years. I strongly believe that with the right preparation, I could accomplish what I want.
Now for the plane, I would try to make one with a new way of taking off or landing. I also like to imagine some kind of conveyor that could make the plane land or take off even more smoothly . It would be amazing to build a plane with an extra pair of wings or turbines to make it soar throughout the skies safely reaching the airport in just a matter of time.
As for the train, I would try to make one someday similar to the bullet train. Because time is gold, so the train must travel as fast as the bullet train in Japan. Because of the pressure of time, I will definitely try a newer way of how it covers a certain distance. With the use of its improved regulators, it could potentially help the train exceed its maximum speed.
I think the use of Lego could help us see more possibilities in creating or building something. It can be used in a unique and detailed way of assembling actual solutions just like the famous Lego McLaren P1 model. It was one of the first to be designed with the same engines and parts used for a real sports car. It was fully drivable and it exceeded the expectations of the people who contributed to its making.
Engineering requires wisdom and experience because most man-made structures and creations require difficult problems to be solved and for inventions to continue. So, personally, even though physics and chemistry aren’t really my favorite subjects, I would still try my best to understand their concepts because I know that I will need them.
Becoming a mechanical engineer is a life-long dream for me. As long as I have the right preparation and wisdom, I believe nothing can stop me from achieving this dream. As Norman Vincent Peale once said, “What the mind can conceive and believe, and the heart desire, you can achieve.”
