They Skated, They Loved

Yes, it not a new book but when I read its pages, I must say I couldn’t put it down.

The journey to being internationally accomplished Russian figure pair skaters and lovers for life for Ekaterina Gordeeva and  Sergei Grinkov is contained in the book, My Sergei, written by Gordeeva. I must add here that Sergei died at only 28 years old in 1995 leaving the young Gordeeva a widow at 24 years old with their 3-year old daughter.

The book published in 1996 would make one appreciate all the hard work and sacrifice that figure skaters and athletes give and do to be the best in their sport. It’s not just having a talent or skill but honing it, getting good at it year after year. Gordeeva’s My Sergei also inspires every reader to make the most out of life and I would say to find your destiny in this life and to live it well.
